The colour paper edition is called The
Colours of Physics. In the colour print edition,
for technical reasons, the first volume is split into two.
The cheaper black & white paper edition is called Motion
Mountain - The Adventure of Physics. The content of both print
editions is the same. Only the title is different.
You can find both book series in your national Amazon store:
Just search for "Motion Mountain Schiller" or "Montagne Mouvement
Schiller". Or better, use these links:
Using hundreds of stories, pictures, films, tables and puzzles, five volumes tell about sport, raindrops and animal life (mechanics, gravity and heat), about moving empty space and the sky at night (relativity and the structure of the universe), about lightning, lasers and nerves (electricity, optics, the brain, language and truth), and about colours, pleasure and the stars (quantum physics, nuclear physics and radioactivity). A sixth volume tells about the search for a final, unified theory of physics. The text guarantees to be entertaining and thought-provoking on every page.
Whenever you take the books in your hand, you will find something that makes your wonder or think. They are full of stories that you can tell your children and also of stories about you can discuss with your colleagues. They show the wonders of nature, the wonders of technology, the astonishing aspects of our universe. Together, the books provide a general overview about modern physics.
